Hello Irish people! We had a splendid time during our second day in Galway, Ireland. Although we did not get to enjoy the Aran Islands because of the weather, we did other amazing things that made up for it. John, the bus driver, didn't deter our adventure because of a little rain.
Bright and early this morning, we went to the sea. We let the ocean air wake us up so we could start our day with full force. This stop was quick but needed. The ocean never gets old.
On our drive to the main attraction, we pulled over to see a leprechaun house. It was small and I was very tired. This stop woke me up though! I had to see the little house that's supposedly filled with magic.
When we got to Connemara National Park (the main attraction), we drove around and feasted our eyes on the beauty of nature. The hills, valleys, and lakes were beautiful, even from the bus. John, our tour guide and driver, did a wonderful job narrating our bus tour through the park. Part two of the main attraction was the Abbey. The Abbey we went to is the home ground for the Benedictine Sisters of Ireland. It was started in 1868 and has been going since. The school part of the Abbey is no longer running, instead it's an exhibit for the public. After learning all about the Benedictine Sisters and their journey, we went to the gardens of the Abbey and enjoyed the beautiful grounds. There was a pig named Ken and three sheep, all of whom, I believe, are blessed.
By the time we returned to the hotel it was already four in the afternoon and we were pooped. It was time to relax until dinner at a small Italian restaurant. Today was splendid. I hope the final day of our trip does it justice. Until next time!!
